Comings and goings

Zimmer the Airedale was in over the weekend. She and her humans are new to the area from Canada and they have been visiting us lately, something we very much enjoy.
Zimmer has the best face - classic terrier - wide eyes, inqusitive and mischievious expression. She always seems just on the edge of getting into a bit of trouble, but she somehow manages to avoid it.
She graciously allowed us to subject her to numerous indignities like bootie and blinking collar fittings. She is trying to get a jump on the rough Boston winter weather.

Also, a fond farewell to Buddy the pug, and Hide and Seek the cats and their mom Lisa L. She is off to start a new adventure in Colorado and we wish her all the best.
Much love to her and our pal Melissa and her dog Bud also now in Colorado. Our loss, the Rockies gain.

Ari and Stella do Howl-O-Ween

An Odd Array

So lately we've had a more unusual group of animals coming in for nail clippings. You know, usually we get dogs and cats, most of whom don't really "enjoy" the procedure but endure it pretty well. Last week though we had a couple of bunnies and Pirate the guinea pig in for pedicures. No blood was drawn, thankfully, and Pirate actually seemed to enjoy hanging out in his box in the store.
Lilly the Schipperke was in for a visit and she was fascinated by Pirate. She kept sniffing him and couldn't really figure out exactly what we he was, but she decided not to kill him which was a good decision. All went well for the rest of the evening.

Cash visited us on Sunday for his photo

An article and more on Howl-O-Ween weekend

We were lucky today to be included in an aritcle about women entrepreneurs in the Boston Globe http://www.boston.com/news/globe/living/articles/2005/11/02/the_new_bosses/
Written by Don Aucoin, it was a very lovely article about the large number of women entrepreneurs particularly in the Roslindale Village area.
We want to thank Don for the article and Suzanne Kreiter for taking the pictures (though Mary the poodle chose to shun the camera that day).

One of our customers said to be sure to send copies of the articles to our mothers because it was a good thing to have our picture in the paper without it being a mugshot. Any day out of the most wanted list is indeed a good day.

On another subject our Howl-O-Ween weekend was really alot of fun. Despite the snow on Saturday, a good many doggies and some kitties came out for their photo session.
We got some totally cool costumes including chihuahuas dressed as a man eating shark, a dragon, and as a private eye(we think...). We had Bella the beagle show up as Elvis and Buddy the Bichon sported a purple velvet witch hat. (Buddy is utterly secure in his masculinity.)

We hope to have tall the pictures uploaded to our Web site as soon as possible.

Thanks to everyone who showed up for the festivities and special thanks to Chris and Jaimie for doing a bang up job with the photo duties on Sunday. Also a big thank you to Ritz Camera for donating a digital printer and phot paper for the event. We'll be sending off donations to Underdog Rescue and Poodle Rescue NE this week.
